Festive Period Notice

On December 19th, the Foundation will hold a team away day, during which our team will be unavailable. Following this, resources will be limited as staff take seasonal leave, and the Foundation will be closed from December 24th to January 2nd for the festive period.

During this time, responses to phone calls and emails may be delayed. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

We wish you a joyful and safe holiday season.

Building Better Lives.

The Building Better Lives capital grants programme was launched in 2018 following an anonymous donation.

The donors had a vision of offering three charities, who provide housing solutions to vulnerable people, an opportunity to receive up to £1m to renovate, restore or build additional housing.

The Foundation made the donor’s vision a reality.

After a rigorous process with some brilliant pro bono expertise, we were delighted to announce the three charities that will benefit from Building Better Lives. To find out more about the builds, please click here.

2021 will be the year we see these builds flourish, creating life-changing accommodation and facilities that will benefit the West Midlands and Warwickshire for years to come.

The grants are, by far, the largest ever awarded by the Foundation and are seen as a major step-change. It’s proof that Heart of England Community Foundation can adapt and deliver grant programmes of any size to solve whatever need there is in the West Midlands.

Two builds are now up and running, find out more about St Basils’ Lorna Esien Court here, and Black Country Women’s Aid refuge for victims of modern slavery here. YMCA Birmingham’s build will be completed in 2022.

#iHeartWestMids.

July 2021 saw the launch of our #iHeartWestMids campaign which worked with Birmingham based artist Foka Wolf, West Midlands Metro and friends at The Great Western Arcade, Queens Square and West Orchards Shopping Centre, to celebrate the Building Better Lives projects.
