The Foundation is leading on a nationwide £5M grants programme within the West Midlands and Warwickshire. Joining forces with Arts Council England and UK Community Foundations, the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund is supporting community and voluntary organisations to develop creative and cultural activities.
Made possible with funding from the National Lottery, the Arts Council England Let’s Create Jubilee Fund has been created as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. Launched to make projects like literature and festivals to dance and theatre shows accessible in the region, community groups and charities across the West Midlands and Warwickshire have until Monday 28 February to apply.
Applicants will be invited to apply for grants of up to £10,000, in order to develop creative and cultural activities in line with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The fund will ensure communities throughout England are given the chance to experience the best of the country’s culture whilst celebrating a monumental milestone in history.
Darren Henley, Chief Executive at Arts Council England, said:
“We’re giving people across the country the chance to come together to experience the joy of culture and creativity in celebration of this historic milestone. With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee taking place alongside the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Festival and the Unboxed festival of UK creativity, this year is set to be a magnificent celebration of our nation’s artistic achievements.”
The focus of the fund is to empower community organisations to work collaboratively with artists and cultural organisations in a way they might not have before, to produce creative events that are driven by them and highlight their ideas and creativity.
Distributed through the UK Community Foundations network, the Foundation will be managing the funding for charities and community groups based in Coventry, Warwickshire, Solihull, Birmingham and the Black Country.
Tina Costello, Chief Executive at the Foundation, said:
“It’s fantastic to be part of this wonderful opportunity to provide funding to local groups in the West Midlands and Warwickshire, during this once in a lifetime event. I’m so excited to see what wonderful projects the Foundation will help bring to life! This year will be a great year for cultural celebrations in the region, as we are host to the Coventry City of Culture and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.”
